Here are Relationship Red Flags to Avoid

Whoever said love is blind probably was referring to how we miss with flashing neon do not enter signals that surround a potentially dead end relationship. But somehow, we fashion love out into a thick blind fold and proceed without counting the costs of our decisions.

In this video, I highlight some of the potentially dangerous pitfalls we can miss when we are in relationships. Sometimes our partners excesses can be missed because they aren’t directed towards us, in the first instance or are so subtle we dismiss them as one offs. Then when the sh*t hits the fan we wonder how it got there in the first place.

On the 18th of May 2016, the FCT Interschool Competition (FIPAC) LAGOS edition which took place at the Muson centre was a great success.

The Annual FCT Interschool Performing Arts Competition (FIPAC)  – already a regular for kids in Abuja came expanded and extended its love for arts to Lagos.

FCT Interschool Competition prides itself for upholding high standards by providing quality training and impactful initiatives to further our objectives. For 4 years, the organisers of FIPAC have taught performing arts classes to kids in Abuja – classes including various types of dance, musical instruments, drama, martial arts, and other creative workshops.

Sponsored by UBA, the FIPAC competition ABUJA will be holding at the Ladi Kwadi Hall, Sheraton Hotel in Abuja on Thursday May 26th, 2016.

Bill Cosby Confesses To Having Sexual Encounters With Teenagers

New depositions released have shown Bill Cosby conceding to having sex with teenagers.

The 78 year-old who is scheduled for a preliminary hearing to determine if his criminal sex-assault case goes to trial in a Pennsylvania court, Wednesday, (May, 25), revealed in the deposition that he received ‘five to six models’ models at his studio on a weekly basis through an agency.

The deposition was made in 2005 and 2006 and only released to the public last year.

In the lawsuit against him by one of the women, Andrea Constand, she accused Cosby of drugging her with Quaaludes at his home in 2004 which the actor agreed to though he rejected her rape allegation.

Cosby also admitted to having sex with Therese Serignese in Las Vegas in 1976 – who was 19 year-old at the time – as well as being masturbated with lotion from another teenager who was one of the models the agency sent to him in 2000.

Metuh Admitted In Hospital As Court Adjourns Corruption Trial To May 30

The ongoing corruption trial of the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday has been adjourned and fixed for May 30, following his absent due to ill-health.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Metuh and his company, Destra Investments Limited, on charges including fraudulent collection of N400m from the Office of the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, in November 2014.

At the resumed trial, the judge, Justice Okon Abang, asked about Metuh’s whereabouts.

Replying the judge, Metuh’s lawyer, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), said the defendant was currently admitted at the National Hospital, Abuja.

After much deliberation, the judge conceded to the request for adjournment and fixed May 30 for continuation of trial.

Justice Abang also fixed Wednesday (tomorrow) for ruling on an application by Metuh seeking the release of his passport to enable him travel to the United Kingdom for medical treatment.

It would be recalled, after yesterday’s trial, Metuh gave reasons to why he needed to travel abroad for medical treatment.

Speaking to pressmen outside the court room, the PDP scribe said his decision was based on medical advice that he should undergo a spinal cord surgery at a good hospital.

Mr. Metuh said his health deteriorated when he fell recently during a meeting of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

“When I fell from the chair, I had a spinal compression and it aggravated the problem,” he said, adding that “I have abandoned my chosen career, even the last convention I did not take part, because of my health. It is a serious issue.”

“To be honest, I am really scared of a spinal cord operation. It can lead to paralysis; it can cause many things,” Metuh added.

Asked about the allegation by the prosecution that his ill-health was stage-managed, Mr. Metuh said, “I do not wish any one ill-health”.

“I had a medical report, in that report, the MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) has a full indentation, so there is nothing that is being stage managed,” he said. “The reports are there as evidence before the court. When the prosecution is in that position then it can tell.”

Fayose Mobilises Ekiti Hunters For War Against Fulani Herdsmen

In the light of the recent attacks and killings by armed men suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen, the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has mobilised some local hunters in the state to confront and bring down Herdsmen found grazing cattle anywhere in the state.

Fayose made this statement hours after he placed a ban on cattle grazing in the state in response to the killing of two people by suspected herdsmen.

The governor also said he would raise money for the hunters and give them vehicle to prepare for the coming war.

The governor, in a statement signed on Monday by his special assistant on new media, Lere Olayinka, said:

“Before leaving you today, I will raise for you (hunters) N2.5million, Secondly, I will raise N2.5m again for the affected families.

“I want to say it very clearly, everything you want me to do, I will do. Because the moment you are not secured then I had better resigned as a governor.

“If I cannot provide adequate security for you, it is better for me to leave this office. The only reason you voted for me is because you know I am competent to do the needful in circumstances like this.

Nobody will take Ekiti away from us.

“This killing of our people must stop. It is deliberate and we must take all actions to stop it.

“They have killed two, they have killed all of us, a fight against one Ekiti man is a fight against everybody, the President must rise up to the challenge and stand this decaying security situation in the face, we cannot continue like this.

“When they defeat you they will go to the next community, when they defeat that community they will go to another one, this is Ekiti Parapo war and it must be fought in the totality of our spirit. I stand by you, I stand for you and that is why you elected me at a time like this. I will not disappoint you.

Family Of Electrocuted Unilag Student Compensated With ₦45 Million

An anonymous source has revealed that the family of electrocuted Unilag student, Oluchi Anekwe, have been compensated with ₦45 million by the Eko Electricity Distribution Company.

Oluchi Anekwe, a first class, 300 level student of Accounting in the University of Lagos, was electrocuted in November 2015 by a live wire on the school premises. Oluchi had reportedly entered the Eni Njoku Hall to buy an item and was walking out of the hostel when a high-tension wire fell on her. The remains of the Igbo-Etiti, Enugu State indigene, were buried shortly after.

Lagos-based human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, took up the case and wrote EKEDC, asking that the firm compensate the family or risk litigation. It was gathered that after series of meetings, the power firm buckled and settled with the family. The firm settled out of court after the family signed a non-disclosure agreement.

However, PUNCH reports that a credible source revealed to them that the settlement was to the tune of ₦45 million. The source said,

“They agreed and paid N45m in a non-disclosure agreement. This means the agreement is not to be disclosed to the public. It is supposed to be a private arrangement between the company and the girl’s family.

“The reasoning is that if it is publicised, it could encourage people who have similar grievances to insist on monetary settlements. That might not augur well for the company. The victim’s younger sister has also been flown abroad for treatment for the injuries she sustained in the incident.”

Oluchi’s father, Chief Basil Anekwe, refused to confirm if any money was paid to his family, saying instead that the victim’s younger sister was abandoned in an American hospital.

He said, “Which money are you talking about? Where did you get the information? Well, I don’t have an idea of what you are talking about; I am in Enugu right now.”

When further probed, he said,

“Do not ask me because I do not know you. You cannot hear anything from me. Go and confirm from the person that gave you the information. Write that I said I have nothing to say about it.

“I stopped the negotiation process because my daughter was abandoned in an American hospital and I had to go and get her.”

However, the General Manager, Corporate Communications, EKEDC, Idemudia Godwin, confirmed that there was a settlement but declined to reveal the figure.

An Average Guy’s Guide To Knotting A Tie

Knotting a tie is one task that every average guy out there should have a grasp of but surprisingly this isn’t the case. This may be because it is not a basic fashion requirement of a lot of jobs around this clime. This nonetheless is not a reason not to know how to knot a tie because there will always be an event requiring you to have one on.

There are different ways to knot a tie depending on the type of style you want. These styles range from the simple knot, four in hand knot, Windsor knot, half- Windsor knot and an array of other styles.

There is however no need to know how to knot a tie in all the styles available and as such, we will be giving you a guide that follows the styles that are suitable for corporate settings, dinners and casual events.

Simple Knot

The simple knot is also known as the Kent knot, Petit Noeud or Oriental Knot. This style of knotting ties contain the fewest possible steps in comparison to other styles and it’s one style that should be very easy for you to grasp. This style is widely popular in the middle east and Asia but rarely worn in much of Europe and America. The reason for this may be attributed to the fact that it is difficult to untie.
The Simple knot style is one that is very compact and has an asymmetry design that makes it lean towards the active end. If you’re keen on adopting this style, it’s best you have a height that is above 6 feet and you employ it for ties with thick materials for it to provide a little extra length.
Simple Knot Tying Instructions

 

Step 1: Commence with the backside of the tie facing away from you. Put the wide end on the right and the small end on the left. Allow the tip of the small end to rest slightly above your belly-button. This usually depends on the length and thickness of the tie and how tall you are. Ensure you move only the wide end.
Step 2: proceed to put the wide end of the tie under the small end towards your left side.
Step 3: move the wide end across the small end towards your right side.
Step 4: move the wide end into the neck loop from underneath.
Step 5: move it down through the loop you’ve just made in the front.
Step 6: pull down the wide end to tighten the loop. Move the knot you made up to adjust the tie appropriately.

The Four in hand Knot

 

This knot is named after a 19th Century Gentleman’s Club. It is a simple and very versatile knot which is widely popular all around the world. It is also simple to knot and has a slender and tapered end. It is self-releasing, asymmetrical and easy to tie. And if you are to choose only one style of the that you want to learn to knot, it should be the Four-in-Hand.
Four-in-Hand Knot Tying Instructions

 

Step 1: Commence the Four-in-Hand process by placing the wide end of the tie on the right and the small end on the left. Start with the small end which should be slightly above your belly-button button. Ensure you move only the wide end.
Step 2: move the wide end over the small end to the left.
Step 3: move the wide end under the small end and towards your right side.
Step 4: move the wide end across the front towards your left side.
Step 5: move the wide end upwards into the neck loop from underneath the loop.
Step 6: move the wide end down through the loop you made in the front.
Step 7: make the loop tight by pulling down on the wide end and moving the knot forward to adjust.

Windsor Knot
The Windsor knot is known for its wide triangular knot style. The Windsor knot style also has a lot of derivatives including the half Windsor but one thing all Windsor styles maintain the symmetry and solid triangular knots. It is most appropriate for collars that are spread out.
Windsor Knot Tying Instructions

 

Step 1: Commence with the wide end of the Tie on your right and the small end on your left. Allow the tip of the small end to rest slightly above your belly-button. Start with the wide end of the tie on the right and the small end on the left.
Step 2: move the wide end over the small end towards your left side.
Step 3: move the wide end into the neck loop from underneath.
Step 4: move the wide end down the left.
Step 5: Move the wide end around the back of the small end towards your right side.
Step 6 : move the wide end upwards to the centre and towards the neck loop.
Step 7: move the wide end through the neck loop and down to the right.
Step 8: move the wide end across the front towards your left side.
Step 9: move it up into the neck loop from underneath.
Step 10: move the wide end down through the loop that you just made in the front.
Step 11: make the knot tight by pulling down on the wide end. Pull the knot up and adjust appropriately.

These three knot styles should provide you with enough variations to rock your ties.

Del Bosque: Iniesta Deserves To Win Ballon d’Or Before Retiring

Spain coach, Vicente Del Bosque has stated it will be an injustice, should Andres Iniesta hang his boots without winning the Ballon d’Or.

The midfielder put in a brilliant performance in the 2-0 copa del rey final win over Sevilla.

He has now won 28 trophies since his senior debut in 2002, adding to his accolades of two European championships and a world cup with Spain.

However, Iniesta has never won a Ballon d’Or – finishing runner-up to Barca team-mate Lionel Messi in 2010, and then claiming third place in 2012 as Messi won again.

And Del Bosque, who will be banking on Iniesta at the upcoming Euro 2016 in France, believes it is unfair if the midfield maestro never receives the prestigious award.

“It would be an injustice if Iniesta finishes his career without the Ballon d’Or among his enormous achievements,” the 65-year-old told COPE’s El Partido de las 12.

“But I guess it is hard when you are coming up against two extraordinary players like Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.”

The CEO, Mockingbird Records Adegboyega “Adey” Ogunlesi, son of Mrs Adenike Ogunlesi, the superwoman behind ‘Ruff n Tumbles’ started his career as a singer and producer at the age of 21 and has worked with the likes of Tiwa Savage, Boj, Saucekid, Lynxxx, Dotstar, Sarkodie, Flowssickk, XO Sanevoe, Dammy Krane and more.

With over six years’ experience in the industry, the producer decided to set up a record label which will focus on creating, developing and establishing the wealth of artistic talent all over Africa.

The CEO also officially unveiled his new artist, Spotless, born Augustine Uche, a young talented singer, song writer, producer and younger brother of Tekno Miles. He has worked with likes of Hakeem (Akon’s producer), Vector, Samklef, Youssou N’dour, American RnB group known as The Boyz, J Martins, EL, Stefan King and more.

His new single “Take Am” produced by Adey was premiered and the event wrapped up with a performance from the artist.

Neymar Insists He Is Happy At Barcelona

The speculation surrounding Neymar’s future at the Camp Nou, has prompted the forward to reiterate his happiness at the club.

The Brazilian scored the second goal in the 2-0 win over Sevilla, as Barcelona claimed the Copa del Rey, and Neymar his eight trophy in three seasons.

The forward is yet to sign a contract extension, fuelling rumours he is considering an exit.

But as Barca celebrated their domestic double in front of the Camp Nou faithful on Monday, Neymar reiterated his desire to stay at the club.

Speaking to the Barca fans, Neymar said: “It has been a great season for us. It was a difficult one, because we were sad after being eliminated in the Champions [League].

“But we did all we could to win the other two cups, and here they are.

“Thank you for celebrating one year more with us. Thank you for everything.

“I am happy at this club and I am part of Barca. Go Barca, and go Catalunya!”
